About Me.
I'm a Pittsburgh-based writer with over 25 years experience in writing and editing, both professionally and creatively.
From 2019 through 2024, I worked for CollegeQuest, a private college guidance counselor service, helping high school students to develop and produce their college application materials. My background in literature - a BA in English from Columbia University and an MPhil in Anglo-Irish Literature from Trinity College, University of Dublin, followed by a 12 year career in publishing, advertising, and communications - all impart a knack for assisting students in the creation of thoughtful, attention-grabbing personal essays.
As a freelance writer, I've published work in a variety of national and international newspapers, magazines, and literary journals, including The New York Times (print/radio), The Washington Post, The Independent, Newsweek, Lithub, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and the Jewish Chronicle, among others. My essay "Here is Squirrel Hill," appeared in the anthology Bound in the Bond of Life: Pittsburgh Writers Reflect on the Tree of Life Tragedy.
Before turning to freelance writing, I worked as an editorial assistant in book publishing (Picador USA), a copywriter of TV commercials, radio spots, and print advertising campaigns (Macy's, Johnson & Johnson, GMC, HSBC, Milk), and a director of brand strategy/marketing (Carnegie Science Center).
